Riga United start a run of 4 away games in a row as
they face one of the league’s new teams Amoko/02. Mo Awada and the
team will most certainly be looking for a reaction tomorrow from
Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Dinamo.
Amoko/02 are a relative unknown to teams in the Riga division
having joined this year but there is no doubt they look strong and
competitive. They’ll be coming into this game full of confidence,
following their 5-3 victory over high-flying Salaspils FS. Awada
will be uring on the side of caution when he comes up against them
tomorrow. Speaking to the RUSG, this is what he had to say: “I have
to be honest I don't know much about Amoko, they are new to the
league this season but looking at their squad list a few familiar
names pop up. They have had a good start to the season, winning 2
of their opening 3 games so we will not take them lightly.”
Riga on the other hand, will be happy this game has come so close
to Saturday’s loss, as it means the players haven’t had much time
to lick their wounds and can focus on the game in hand. They have
dipped in form over the past week after starting brightly.
However, they’ll be looking to turn their fortunes around.
To get something from Amoko would be good as this starts a
series of 4 away games inside two weeks. Awada was pleased this
game has come though and looking for them to fight back, as he
mentioned: “Following the disappointment of our last game, it’s
great that we have another game just a few days later. I was very
disappointed with our 1st half performance on Saturday, my feelings
have been made clear to the team. I expect more and the players
expect more, they have had a couple of days to reflect and I think
they know they let each other down and I'm looking for a big
reaction tomorrow and a much better performance.”
Team news:
Most of the squad remains the same for Riga United, which will be
good for getting into this game. A few of the players have
picked up knocks but some will see a return the to the lineup.
Mo was particularly happy to see Niels Krause and Karim
Gouglou return. “I'm happy to welcome back Niels and Karim to the
squad, a couple of others are carrying little knocks so they will
be accessed tonight before we travel to Imanta.”
