UNITED KICK OFF SEASON LOOKING FOR GOOD FORTUNE

Riga United FC take on Fortuna Ogre away in the opening match of the Riga division season.

It’s been a long time coming and, after all the pre-season games,
we have finally reached the start of the season. Tonight,
Riga United head out to Ogre for a 19:45 kick off vs Fortuna Ogre.
Riga are looking at a fresh start as they look to rid the demons
from last year’s games, losing 5-1 and 1-0.
As mentioned, this is a new season with new opportunities for
players to shine. United have had a fantastic preseason, winning
the majority of their matches and looking strong as a unit.
Cohesion and stamina will be key to this season, everyone at the
club knows what this team is capable of. Sadly, manager Mo Awada is
unable to get to the game but looking at the strength of the team,
this is what he had to say: “The lads have been working really hard
in preseason; it's the best preseason I think we've ever had. The
lads are ready to show the fruits of their hard work”.
Looking at the season ahead, he continued: “It will be a long
hard season. We are all excited and ready to embrace it and show
what we can do.”
So tonight player/coach Alex Alunāns will be overseeing the team
and Awada has full faith in him that he can do the job:
“"Unfortunately I will miss the opening game of the season, but I
fully trust my captain Alex to set up the team well and motivate
them.” This will be a very different and competitive Riga United
from the one last year and if they stick to their game plan, United
could well walk away with something from tonight’s game.
Finally, when asked if Awada had anything to say to the team, he
commented “Good luck to the lads tonight... I will have my ways of
getting info on the game.”
