Tonight, in a late kick off, Riga United will take on rivals FC Marienburg for the first time this season. Marienburg are 2pts and 1 place above United, so both teams will fancy they could come away with a win.

Head to Head
This is first time they have met in two years. The previous time they met was in the Vidzemes division in 2013, when Marienburg won both games 2-1. Josu Samaniego was the scorer in both those games for United.

This season Marienburg have picked up 29 yellow cards against United’s 15, however, United have picked up 4 reds where Marienburg have yet to see the card.

It’s anyone’s game:
Riga will hope for the current momentum to build for this game. They are with fresh legs and ready to play. With the Riga United Ladies playing before, they hope the buzz from that game will carry over into theirs and give them a boost. Riga have the ability to win this and so do Marienburg. This will be a competitive game but it will come down to who can keep their gameplan consistent, communicate and who will find that break. These games have shown, it will go down to the wire, so whoever gets ahead, will need to capitalise on their chances.

Is the worst over?
While the toughest games with the leaders of the division have now passed into distant memory, United’s 4 remaining games are games which they feel, if they get right, they could win. They should not rest on it though, as they will all be competitive, however, now they have started to find form and goals again, and if play like they did against Monarchs, there is no reason why they could not finish the season with 12 points and that’s certainly what Awada will be looking for.

Team news:
Awada was ‘tight lipped’ in terms of who was available or not. However, it is suspected that there are, in general, not too many concerns. Unfortunately Jurciks and Tazantout are out and probably won’t return by the end of the season.

Manager Mo Awada had this to say about the upcoming match:
"Playing Marienburg is always a great occasion and it brings a special atmosphere. The two teams have total respect for each other off the pitch but on the pitch both [teams] badly want to win. The previous 2 games live long in the memory, Josu scoring 2 outstanding goals and last minute drama. Both teams have not had the season they would have hoped for but winning this game will make up for that.

He continued “From our side, we are coming into form, we have started to score goals again which is pleasing. Anything can happen in a derby, I think it will come down to which team settles into the game best. We are prepared and ready. We hope the whole club will be celebrating come 11pm tomorrow tonight with our ladies in the final and the men getting 3 points. It will be a great evening of football and I invite everyone to come down support us and be part of what will be a very special evening of football in RIga United history.

Šovakar, visai pavēlajā spēlē Riga United pirmo reizi šajā sezonā tiksies ar FC Marienburg komandu. Marienburg komanda atrodas 1 vietu augstāk (+2pti) par United, līdz ar to spēlē uzvarēt gribētājas noteikti būs abas komandas.

Šī ir pirmā reize divu gadu laikā, kad abas komandas beidzot tiksies laukumā. Pēdējā reizē komandas tikās Vidzemes divīzijā 2013 gadā, kad abās spēlēs pārāka ar 2-1 izrādījās Marienburg komanda.Josu Samaniego bija abu vārtu autors katrā no spēlēm. Šai sezonā Marienburg ir sapelnījusi 29 dzeltenās kartiņas pret tika i15 Riga United kontā, kaut gan jāatzīmē, ka RU ir sapelnījusi arī 4 sarkanās kartiņas, kamēr Marienburg kontā nav nevienas sarkanās.

Riga noteikti ka cerēs uz iegūtu impulsu no iepriekšējās spēlēm, lai rādītu labu sniegumu šovakar. Kājas ir svaigas un puiši ir gatavi spēlei. Puiši cer, ka pirms viņu spēles spēlējošo dāmu komandas radītās pozitīvās emocijas un sportiskais niknums pāries arī uz viņu spēli dodot viņiem nepieciešamo atbalstu. Šai spēlē uzvarēt var jebkura no abām komandām un rezultāts būs atkarīgs no tā, kura koamnda spēs visas spēles garumā saglabāt trenera dotos norādījumus un labi komunicēt savā starpā, kā arī izmantot tos brīžus, kad iespējams lauzt spēles gaitu. Šādas spēles ir parādījušas, ka visu izšķir tas, kurš pirmais izvirzās vadībā un kurš spēj veiksmīgāk realizēt savas iespējas.

Vai sliktākais jau ir garām?

Sezonas grūtākās spēles ir aiz muguras un atlikušās četras ir spēles, kurās ir iespējams iekrāt punktus. Bet nekādā ziņā nevar domāt, ka šīs spēles būs vieglas, arī šajās būs smagi jācīnās par punktiem. Labā ziņa ir tā, ka pamazām Riga United ir atradusi savu spēli un atguvusi arī vārtu garšu, līdz ar to, ja puiši rādīs tādu pat sniegumu kā iepriekšējā mačā pret Monarchs komandu, nav iemeslu neticēt, ka viņiem ir iespējas sezonu noslēgt ar 12 punktiem kabatā, uz ko noteikti cer arī Mo Awada.

Komandas ziņas:
Awada nebija visai runīgs par to, kuri spēlētāji ir pieejami un kuri nav uz šodienas spēli, bet jādomā, ka īsti problēmas ar sastāva nokomplektēšanu nevajadzētu būt. Diemžēl gan Jurčiks, gan Tazantout mēs neredzēsim un jādomā, ka viņiem šī sezona ir beigusies.
